Australian Sweeper Specialists partnered with Volvo Special Operations to create the inaugural Australian sweeper mounted on a Volvo chassis. A CityRay unit was delivered to City of Gold Coast Council on a Volvo FE250 dual control chassis.
The Volvo FE includes safety innovations such as expanded side windows for visibility, reduced noise emissions, Euro 6 compliance, an ergonomic air suspension seat, lane keeping support with forward-facing cameras, Electronic Stability Control, adaptive cruise control with collision warning and emergency braking, and driver-side blind spot monitoring.
The CityRay itself features a 3-way camera system, three emergency stops, door-open alarms when handbrake is disengaged, inactive brooms upon door opening, and rear directional arrows.
The company expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with Volvo and anticipated additional Volvo-chassis CityRay units in future production.
