Our Story

Mike Trace Engineering (MTE) is a family-owned business established in 2002, headquartered in Brisbane, Queensland. Founder Mike Trace is a time-served Heavy Vehicle Mechanic specialising in hydraulics, pneumatics, and electronics — bringing over 30 years of hands-on industry experience to every machine we sell and service.

MTE specialises in the sales, servicing, spare parts, and training for sweeper equipment across Australia and New Zealand. In 2017, we developed our own suction sweeper — the CityRay — in collaboration with Turkish manufacturer Ceksan, tailoring it specifically for Australian conditions and the demands of our customers.

We hold exclusive import rights for Ceksan products in Australia and are a preferred supplier across multiple state government procurement panels including QLD, WA, SA, NSW, VIC and Tasmania.

Key Milestones

2002 Mike Trace Engineering founded in Brisbane, QLD.
2017 Co-developed the CityRay suction sweeper with Ceksan — the first Australian-designed road sweeper of its kind.
2019 First CityRay sold and delivered to Livingstone Shire Council, QLD.
2020 First CityRay mounted on a Volvo FE250 chassis — delivered to City of Gold Coast Council. A first in Australia.
2025 CityRay proves its versatility clearing floodwater from Quilpie Shire's airport runway, maintaining critical emergency access.
